Small Business Owners Know Their Business - Strategic Marketers & Social Media Managers Know Theirs
No one else knows your business as well as you do. But many small business owners don't know the first thing about how strategic marketing or social media can help grow your business. That's why many small business owners are hiring or contracting a manager to run their marketing campaigns and social media presence.

You may be in need of such a manager if you aren't doing it yourself for your business. Here are some reasons small business owners may need to find someone to take this over for them and their business.

Time
I get it! You are out there running your business—meeting with customers, doing the work, etc. You don't have time to spend on social media promoting your business. More than half of small business owners spend less than one hour per week marketing their business on social media. This is a huge mistake!

More than 70% of customers use social media to decide which product or service to buy. How are these customers going to find your business if you don't have a social media presence?

I'm No Marketer
I've never heard of a marketing major opening a plumbing business. That's because plumbers open plumbing businesses. And that makes perfect sense. Although a plumber may have taken a marketing class or seminar, many might be lost when asked to create a marketing strategy.

Creating a marketing strategy and social media presence takes a creative mind that works in that space. I'm not saying that small business owners aren't creative. I'm sure they would have to be in order to own a business. This is a different type of creativeness.

Not On Social Media
My customers are not on social media. Ummm, yes, they are! Social media is for young people. Ummm, no, it's not! I have relatives in their 80s that are on Facebook every day. How do I know? Because they ask me if I saw this or that on Facebook every time I see them.

And why aren't you going after young people to make them customers? Millennials are now the largest generation in the U.S. workforce. They have money to spend and you should be marketing to them!

Some May Criticize
Some may say that everything I see on social media is negative and criticizing. That may be have some truth to it. But the truth is that some customers may be criticizing you elsewhere. At least on social media you can interact with your customers, solve any problems they may have and really build a relationship. Sometimes it's all about how you handle a problem or situation.

You should be paying attention to what people are saying about your business on social media. If you know how they perceive your business, steps can be taken to develop better relationships and solve problems before they get out of hand.
