Is your website trusted in Google Search?

As an eCommerce site owner, you cannot gain a competitive advantage in this congested online marketplace without first building trust with your targeted audience. After all, consumers today only buy from online businesses that they find credible and can trust. This means that you need to find ways to make your business appear more “trustworthy” on the Internet to turn your website visitors into loyal customers.

There is a laundry list of facets that can make or break your online credibility. Of course, the quality of your product and service offerings is crucial, but don’t forget about your website. Since your website is your virtual storefront and the first touchpoint most consumers have with your brand (this means that most consumers will make their first impression of your brand based on your website), you must ensure that your website conveys trustworthiness.

So how do you develop an eCommerce site that your consumers can trust when it appears on Google Search?

Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Start by minimizing (or better yet, ditching) the ad content displayed on your website. Sure, pop-ups and banner ads can help you generate some extra income through your website, but a site overrun with ads might seem a little unprofessional and spammy. Your website should be about you and your consumers. It should be about their problems and how you can help. Annoying and pushy ads do not have a place there.
  2. Choose a domain name that warrants respect. Calling your site “cheapfashionableclothes.com” makes it feel like an infomercial or, worse, like spam. Your domain name should be your brand name, not a rambling description of your offerings.
  3. Make yourself available to your customers; they should feel confident that they can contact you whenever they need to. This means providing your contact details (i.e., phone number, address, email address, live chat links, or social media profiles) throughout the site. Making it easier for your customers to get in touch with you also virtually guarantees that you are a real business and not a fly-by-night operator.
  4. Do you have BBB accreditation, Certificate of Excellence, PayPal verification, Norton security, or 5-star Yelp ratings? Display those trust seals loud and proud; it would allow you to borrow the credibility of these independent and trustworthy authorities as your own.
  5. Got a glowing review or testimonial from a real customer? Make sure you display it on your website. Consumers find it easy to trust businesses others have trusted.

Conclusion

If you want your website to generate more leads, sell more products, or attract more visitors, you have to ensure it appears trustworthy in Google search. These tips can help you do just that!
